2 single crochet stitch 12

2 single crochet stitch 13

double crochet around and around to get the depth you want it

then close it up to fit your head by
single crochet in the 1-3 stitch, skip 4th and single crochet in the 5th and repeat around.

Now, as you are making your hat, watch the width, and if it gets too wide, you can skip a few of the increase row and close it up sooner, so it wont turn out huge. It just depends on the size of yarn and hook and your own personal taste

ADULT MITTENS

6mm Hook

Chain76

Row 1 Double crochet (after you skip 2 stitches) into 8 stitches to make cuff, slip stitch the next two stitches for the wrist, double crochet 25 stitches for hand, slip stitch the next 4 stitches for top, double crochet the next 25 stitches for hand, slip stitch the next two for wrist and double crochet 8 for cuff chain 2 and turn

Row 2-(i do about 8 rows for the hand) Work back loops only copy the previous row, DC where there is DC and sl st where there are sl st's

You will want to make the mitten about the width of your 4 fingers

TO MAKE THE THUMB

Double crochet up 8 to make the cuff still, slip stitch the wrist and crochet up 8 stitches of the hand

Chain 22

Fold the mitten in half join the chain in the 8th stitch up from the wrist of the other side

now work back down the other side of the cuff, chain 2 and turn, work back up again

Repeat until the thumb is the width you want it (I do about 3 rows)

Now you can sew the mitten shut, or what I do is single crochet the mitten closed, tie it off and flip it right side out.

NOW MAKE THE SECOND ONE
